I dont want the panther even it has 9 HP. Raven is cool with its flying ability. What's your favourite familiar (FOR MAGES) raven becomes better ?

As a solo, Pixie. As a party member, Hell Hound at the insistance of my 5 year-old daughter (Devil dog, daddy. Where's the devil dog? I want to see the devild dog. Make him breath fire...) I'm taking this kid to a shrink, I swear.

I have a level of Sorceror and I went with imp because Wizards normally have them as familiars (or cats), but I have to agree that I do prefer the hell hound. LOL Pretty cool familiar.

but hell hound is evil?
your familiar gets better when you gain level?

I can't answer that for the familiar, but it does for the animal companion. I read in the manual that familiars should gain levels (kinda) like your character. My Panther started off at x HP (Didn't really notice what it was to start), but now has 34 hp. I did see 27 HP at one time. I didn't get the companion until 6th level and am now 9th level Ranger. Another wizard/sorceror should be able to confirm this though (I only have 1 level of Sorceror).

EDIT: Ok, I didn't mention the other reason for IMP, but for some reason, I do not get options for Chaotic Good familiars. I figure that Lawful Evil was the closest I could get (well, I liked IMP like I was saying too. LOL)

the familiar improves as you get more mage (or sorcerer) levels

You can also change your familiar each time you level-up

This is true of the animal companion too. Whenever you level up, you get the option of what companion you want. I started with the Panther, but have switched to the bear now. Initially, it looked like my bear had 100 hp, but for some reason, it is at 54 now. Weird. Maybe I had some kinda spell activated when I called him the first time. Same thing happened to my Panther. Ah well. He's still pretty cool.
