You gain a new feat every 3 levels right? Fighters gain 1 feat every 2 levels? These feats looks great what do you think?

point blank (no -4 penalty plus +1!)
rapid shot (extra shot is fine)
power attack (for cleave)
cleave (cool)
dodge (for mobility)
mobility (+4 ac is great)
improved critical (it's the best of all)

in my opinion, weapon specialization is not so great it gives just +2 damage. weapon focus too only +1 thaco.

I agree with you about improved critical being VERY helpful. Knockdown is another good one too. I finally have a mask that prevents knockdown and it is a life saver. LOL If you can get Use Magic Device or something like that, it is good too. That way you can cast magic from scrolls or use items. other than that, my character is way different from yours and uses different skills.

Remember that mobility is only a +4 AC bonus against attacks of opportunity (i.e. when drinking a potion within range of an enemy). It doesn't give you a permanent +4 AC bonus.

Power attack will eventually be enabled all the time when your attack bonuses are high enough, so thats a cool feat.

Cleave is good since it's an extra attack everytime you mow someone down.

Improved critical is indeed cool. I'm currently using a keen rapier with improved critical and hit criticals on rolls of 13-20 which rocks. Even when I enable improved power attack there is still around a 1 in 3 chance that they will be hit regardles to the attack roll.

Weapon specialisation is well worth it. Since a human fighter will get around 19 feats by 20th level, taking 2 for weapon focus and weapon spec is a must. With a weapon such as a scythe, it's an additional 8 damage on a critical hit and my dual wielder using boots of speed and improved 2 weapon fighting attacks 7 times per round which means that 14 extra damage per round is great. (especially when hitting criticals between 13-20).

Other cool feats are knockdown, toughness and improved disarm.

i have a monk at level 12 with some AWESOME equipment, plus his stats are good too. i picked great feats, and they get some great ones to start with. (cleave at level 1) not to mention, all the FREE feats as they level up. i have found that knockdown is indeed helpful, as is called shot. called shot to the arm causes a -2 penalty to the targets "to hit" if it lands. (mine does) if you target the legs and it lands, the target gets a -2 penalty to its speed. very helpful to slow them down either for battle, or as you run away to heal. monks are just AWESOME!!! i cant wait to reach level 20, and be a monster of destruction, heh.

wheres the answer to my question?
fighters gain feats every 3 levels too? or 2

Willard 08-01-2002 07:57 PM

These are the ones I have. They are also my favorites
My faves are:

(improved) Two Weapon Fighting
Ambidexterity
Skill Focus
Weapon Proficiency (Exotic/Martial)
Armor Proficiency (heavy)
Shield Proficiency

I didn't get (improved) Power Attack because it gives a -5 to hit, and because my AC is pretty low I need to make all the hits I can before I get killed.

Power attacking becomes useful when your attack bonuses are large enough though. I even took improved power attack to bash open chests and doors to get by the damage reduction, and by the time I reached level 19, I could pretty much leave improved power attack on and cream anything with my greatsword :D

Fighters get an extra one at 1st level, and at every even level (2nd, 4th, 6th, 8th, etc.).

A good reason to take at least weapon focus is that way the game knows what weapon you're using. If you select weapon focus longsword, you'll find more long swords than other weapons. If you don't choose a weapon focus, it'll just give generic weapons for your class, like monks gets lots of kamas.

Both, they get the standar feat every free levels but they also get a bonus feat every 2 levels. So they end up with 18 feats at level 20, nineteen if they're human. I agree with the above, I take weapon focus and specialisation as some of my first feats. +1 to hit and +2 to damage are a big deal when you're only level 4
