I've heard people say this is a great amulet, after you repair it, but how do you repair it? I'm a Monk so I don't have access to mage spells that are used in item creation.

before you enter the globe - shake it once. Now the dryads are hostile and dwarves friendly. Enter the cave and get the amulet - talk to the dwarf leader who will repair it.

Then exit the globe - shake it again. Now the dwarves are hostile and the dryads friendly. Talk to the dryad leader who will instill magic into the amulet. - Amulet repaired (30/- damage reduction vs cold, +5 saves vs cold)

P.S. The dragon will attack you on sight after you've repaired the amulet - so if you want to talk to it - do it the first time you're in the cave.

It's a fine amulet to use against that dragon. Beyond that, I think I got rid of it. Not many opponents use cold attacks.
