<font color=skyblue> What kind of party do you like? I like a disco one with a barbecue before hand.

No seriously? Do you guys and gals find it annoying playing almost or purely solo? BECAUSE I DO!!!!

I prefer playing solo or near solo for games with real time combat. Trying to keep track of six characters when they're all running around doing stuff is too much for me. If give me nice turn based combat, then I prefer a party.

i can live with either party or single. What I would have really liked would have been more control over the dumbfuck henchmen though

I don't mind actually. At the beginning I didn't like it at all, I even kept my panther summoned all the time because I wanted all the party I could get. But now it doesn't bother me, especially because I'm much tougher now ;) . I'm currently doing a dungeon and Sharwyn died in the first room and I decided to go on without her. I feel liberated! :D

I really do wish that...that was part of the fun of stuff like BG2...of course, as Shield mentioned, control over anyone would be good...no, check that, GREAT.

No kidding! This is especially annoying with the spellcasting characters. Why do they use all of their spells right away? Then you are stuck using the stone of recall so you can rest and get their spells back for the stronger monsters. At least do a script system like they did in the BG series, where you can keep them in missile mode until the big fights, then switch their script to spellcasting. At least it would allow you to give the character better direction.

I also hate that, when you tell a henchman to use missile weapons, they keep using them even if they have opponents hacking at them in melee. All of the monsters you fight use their missile weapons when you are at range, then switch to melee weapons when you close. Why not your henchmen? It can't be that hard to program!

In other words, I think the way the henchmen are scripted sucks.

I only like playing in a group when all the players are working toward a common goal...otherwise theres just too much going on

I made mention of this in another thread, but it is good enough to say again. Solo is the BEST. You have less people vying for your experience/items. You do all the investigating/problem solving. You feel more drawn into the story. I'm not saying you shouldn't play multi, but to get the most from the game, it is best if you run it solo. With Multi, it depends on who comes on board whether it will be cool or not. I guess my hours are so whacked that I can't find a lot of hometown friends or ones from here, so when I multi, I don't have control of who comes in. There were a couple of times that the experience was a really good one. But there are people that just come aboard to get stuff and then disappear or who come in to just kill your towns and make everyone's alignment shift more towards evil (I had to end a game because someone did this.) Anytime someone that even looks like they would play chaotic, I ask them first before taking them serious. Ah well . . . Never Winter Nights is a cool game no matter what though.

<font color="lawngreen" face="trebuchet MS"> It got me at the start that I could only have 1 Henchman... but I got used to it.. like most people.... I hope someone makes a fix or something that lets you get like 6 members... but that would obviously make the official campaign way to easy :( </font>

Try this page, I think its got all you want.
Im using the updated henchman script and it all seems ok.
BUT do as they say and backup your original override first (just in case);).
