If your henchman kills someone do you get the same amount of XP that you would if you killed them yourself?

I read this on a different message board. Not sure how accurate it is but here goes...

Your summoned creatures, familiars, henchmen, etc., do not gain XP for kills. Henchmen, and I think familiars too, are scripted to level up whenever your character does. So companions don't necessarily steal XP from you directly, however, you probably won't get nearly as much XP when you have a companion with you because the game treats them as an improvement to your party. Your party level with a companion with be higher than when just by yourself, so your party level relative to the enemies level will be higher than usual, netting you reduced XP. How much the reduction is depends on how high level your companion(s) is.

Or something like that
