I haven't managed to work out what command to give Tomi and my panther animal companion to get them to go on stealth mode. Makes it kind of useless having Tomi as a thief if you can't ask him to sneak around unseen with you. And the strength of the panther is supposed to be its high skill rank in Hide and Move Silently, but it's kind of redundant if you can't make use of it. So I'm creeping around while my two sidekicks are following me, completely visible.

there is no mode to work out with it. not totally sure about familiars. but tomi should go stealth almost everytime he attacks. he did for me at least

He never does - he sneak attacks, but he never goes into stealth mode, which is quite annoying. He's proven to be quite adept at avoiding getting hit, though. ;)

maybe he needs to level up a bit to have that ability?

Wouldn't that be strange, given that it's based on skill ranks in both Hide and Move Silently feats, not level? In 3rd Ed, anyone can use Stealth mode - how successful you are is based on how many skill ranks you have in those 2 feats, as well as armor and lighting.

It's bizarre.

at first, sharwyn didn't cast stealth spell at me and herself, but after a few level up she began casting that spell.

so i guess your henchman might have that skill later on.

Stealth isn't a spell, Kakero - it's a modal action available to everyone. You might be talking about the 3rd level bard spell Invisibility Sphere, which isn't what I'm talking about.

oh, so that was invisibility sphere, silly me. :D

The only way I've been able to get a familiar to go into stealth mode was to possess it. I don't know if he will stay in stealth mode when you unpossess him...but I would think that's fairly easy to test.

The only time i have had to do this was at this contest thing where you were supposed to race a bunch of other adventurers through a dungeon.. i wanted to sneak through without stopping to fight, so i threw a Invis potion to tomi- he went invis that way. I set him to "follow" but he would invariably stop to attack things :/ i was able to go far enough ahead to zone out to the next level, where of course he pops up with me regardless where he was.

And of course when he attacks, he loses invis. And of course since this was a cheesy way of getting through a dungeon i found out at the end that i needed some item of something to pass out and "win" the competition.. so i went back and killed everything anyway.. only i started from the end. I found i havent really needed stealth, i usually just plow through and kill whatever is there. If i need to explore ahead i might save game, walk in, and reload if disaster strikes :/ this way i know whats coming
