The more your game proceeds your henchman will get more and more powerful. But what if you change your henchmen quite often - will they just gain levels as long as they are in your service or is this an automatic thing ??? For example if you have Linu in chapter 1, then change to another henchman and *hire* her back in chapter 3 - does she have the same experience than in chapter 1 or has her level risen appropriately for chapter 3 ???

All you have to do is initiate a dialog with them and say you'd like them to level up. They become one level lower than you.

I think it caps at level 14 for henchmen, though, because I got to level 20 last night and Grimgnaw was still level 14. I couldn't tell him to level up anymore.

how do you know what level they are?

Right click on them and get the radial up, and go to other options, where you can view their stats or talk to them
