Does anyone else have Warcraft III? Has anyone noticed that the plots
of NWN and WCIII are exactly the same? At least they are at the beginning.
I haven't gotten very far in WCIII's campaign but the humans start out
with a nasty plague that's killing all of their citizens. Hrmmm...

ive noticed the plague thing. but yous gots ta remember wc3 was in the works way before NWN so who copied who?wc3 would have been out a while ago if not for them trying to fix and correct every last detail. sheesh come out with a patch like everyone else.i so wanted to play wc3 2 years ago.

Nah, don't come out with a patch like everyone else. Balance up the game and remove all of the bugs BEFORE you release it, not afterwards like everyone else.

Are you sure WC3 was started on before NWN? NWN was announced even before BG2, if I recall correctly...

Let's not forget that Morrowind had a new disease as a major element of it's plot as well. Apparently, it's the theme of the year.

Good point Andy. Sad really. I forgot about the Morrowind blight disease.
The really sad thing... I played an adventure at a PnP gaming convention a couple weeks ago. The setting: The city of Ravensbluff (it's in the Forgotten realms. A bit east of Neverwinter I think). The plot: A magical Plague has struck the city and the adventurers must go and save it. At least there were six of us instead of only one. I wonder how long this will last. :D

Well look at it this way:

The Big Gun trying to take over the world is in games DIablo, BG I and II, and some other games...

it's all basic now... so they try a new approach... disease.. it's a nice plot, adds to the tension and quickness because inside you will feel always in a hurry... the games are Morrowind, NWN, WC III :D

Itty bitty yet painfully obvious spoiler, but NWN does BOTH.
Disease is really only a major deal in the first Chapter. After that it is just background.

wc3 was supposed to come out 2 years ago. i have talked with the peeps at blizzard personally. they were at my store when they promoted wc3 on its release. they work outta irvine california. they also said that they have "secretly" been working on starcraft 2 for the past 2 years but wont release it until 2 to 3 years from now just so they can make their money off of wc3. so if they work on a game secretly for 2 years how long ago do you think wc3 was in the makes? bout 5 years ago it was.i believe wc2 came out 7 years ago. by the time they had the expansion out for it they were starting works on wc3.

WC3 release took a very long time, mainly because they COMPLETELY re-did the whole game at one stage. The game was supposed to be - at first - totally different, when there was some other guy as the Big Gun on the WC3 project. That old project doesn't resemble the current WC3 at all. To say something, they for example wanted to make your Hero to be the centre of all: Hero gathers armies, stuff, gives influence, other team are around him to support him. You would have really developed the Hero as a char, and in case he died, he wasn't dead permanently, but instead got some penalties and was resurrected somewhere. And so on. I don't know all the details, but that old team were already pretty far with the development of the game. There were shots and movies out, previews done and all that...

Then for some reason the main dude left, or was fired, I don't know. Atfer some discussion, the WC3, as it was, was trashed and they re-did it completely from beginning. They probably did use some of the assets, sure, but the game as such was completely re-done, from the start. As for which was started before, then I don't remember, I recall them both back few years.
