Just out of curiosity, how many ppl here Multi Class?
|
Half of the fun of NWN is customization. I believe that multi-classing gives you access to character creation that can make for a very memorable character. I used one of the pre-rolled characters to start off, but have been adding my own ideas where I want him to go. My character is the Ranger. Not just any Ranger mind you, but a multi-classed Ranger/Thief. As a spark of fun, I added in some spell casting abilities to get him prepped up for a possible tri-class. Not sure yet. I was a little confused at first how my first level thief couldn't pick locks or disarm traps, but after adding those abilities, am quite pleased (since I started him as a Ranger first, I was given sparse beginnings as a thief). Since the Ranger already had some thieving capabilities (stealth), I didn't have to spend points there. I added the use magic skill as well so that I could cast from scrolls (thief ability). Since the abilities are so close together (He's 3rd level Ranger/2nd level thief), it's almost like having an elvish Ranger/Thief, but as a human. Pretty cool. As for level advancement, it hasn't seemed that fast for me, but then, I am going up 2 levels simultaneously. It takes a bit longer. Now if only my henchman wouldn't keep dying and I could use the gold on items instead of teleporting . . . LOL

proud to say
NO besides it seems most people wanna dual with rogues or similar to them why?you hear people all the time i got a rogue/whatever. sneak attack isnt all that good and anyone can do it if you hit the guy from behind. |
like tobbin there just had to have a rogue thrown in.

90% of the time i play single class, usually pure cleric or druid.
I feel somehow i am "diluting" their power if, for example, she will never be a level 20 cleric. i want to reach those really high level spells and abilities of one class. i could be wrong tho, maybe they would not be diluting their power, maybe they become like a double-strength 20/20 character or something, but somehow it doesnt feel right. Even when i played BG1 i never dualed Imoen to mage. |

The only class I would consider playing 1-20 without multiclassing is a Cleric.
Rogues, Rangers, Fighters, and Barbarians are going to be popular multiclass options because their power doesn't increase exponentially like a spellcasting class does. Taking a level of fighter, for example, really helps your character (especially a low level spellcaster) without hindering their progression too much (19 wizard instead of 20). However, a 19 fighter/1 wizard really won't do much for you. I think because your party in NWN is all of two people, and one of them is going to be a specialist, multiclassing is kidn of implied in the game design. Plus there is nothing like putting that greatsword aside to launch a fireball and then charge into combat. HUZZAH :D |
hmm I'm thinking of Multi classing my ranger... at lvl 19 to a wizard... lol; if only to get another familar, er animal compaion. hehe, it would be funny to see 2 panthers...

youre limited to only one summoned monster, so would assume youd be limited to one familiar/animal companion as well...but you can give it a try if you really want a lvl4 panther following you around
