Okay I really want to get my hands on Neverwinter Nights, but I only have a crappy 8 meg Video Card. I have an AMD k6/2 550 with 512mb ram, will the game work with only an 8 meg Video Card or will I have to get an upgrade before?

Required:
16 MB TNT2-class OpenGL 1.2
compliant video card

So i guess it won´t work. :(

It will work, very slow. But that depends if you have Windows 2000, or XP, and wether its a home or professional addition. I got it to work on an old 8 mg card with Win 2000 prof but you need service pack 2 in order to make it work.

Hmm.. okey man..
Well i have a computer @ home that is a Pentium 3 800 MHz with a 8mb video card. My OS is Windows XP Professional.
Do u guys think it will work..
If i turn down all graphics?

Try this, what service pack do you have for XP? Have you downloaded anything for it? Or did you install it strait from the box? It wont work unless its the older version. I dont know why yet but I am looking into it right now, give me a half an hour I should have an answer. Also, try downloading from the XP website the new video drivers that should make it work. Good luck, if you cant find any of it write to me at

Ag_darkvoid@hotamil.com

and I will send you the drivers myself.

Hmm i have installed it from the box. No upgrades.
Il be very thankful for any help i can get.

ok, well if all else fails the website

http://www.pricewatch.com

is a great place to start looking for computer parts, there is a BEAUTIFULL Matrox Millenium G400 (NOT THE BRAND NEW ONE) 32 MB duel head video card for only 20 dollars. Also

http://www.mwave.com

I think has some good stuff right now. But pricewatch has great links to other places if you arent already a big fan of it.

But check out the WinXP downloads at their site.

Good luck! And Happy Hunting!

Dont think i can put any graphic card in because it is a notebook. :D
But thanks alot.. :D

You can calculate the required video memory by the following formula

color depths x resolution / (1024 x 1024) = minimum required video memory in MB

for example on my machine

32 x 1024 x 768 / (1024 / 1024) = 24

If your card has less than the result of the appropriate formula for your machine some OS use normal RAM but this will bring your game to a quite grinding halt ...

Naturally another question is what Bioware *thinks* the minimum configuration has to be.

notebook video cards, thats a toughy. Ok what kind of memory card is it? You might be able to pop the book open and overclock the processer on the card if it actually has one. If not you might be able to change it, but your case might not look cool anymore ;)... then again, mabye its time to save up and by a desktop!
