Just wondering... what affects the weapon speeds in NWN? The weapon's weight, size category...? I haven't noticed a weapon speed attribute on the weapons, so I'm trying to figure out how it's set up... *shrug*

No weapon speed in 3ED, and in NWN. You get the same number of attacks per your level and class no matter what type of weapon you're using. In NWN the round is 6 seconds, so they space out the attacks over the 6 seconds.

I play a pure fighter, level 13 now. I remember when I was at level 1 I seem to attack as slowly as every other class. As I gained levels I noticed I swing faster, now at level 13 I seem to hit 2-3 times in 6 secs if that is 1 round, not counting Cleave hits. Not sure if weapon specialization has any real affect on the number of attacks per round but I know it helps with damage and hitting your target. I use both longswords and greatswords, both swing about the same, except with greatswords I deal much higher damage but longsword and shield for bonus AC modifiers.

I think, that the visual might be misleading as with BG and BG2, your animations may not match to how many actual attacks are taking place.... Say is you get two attacks per round and your opponent gets only one, you may see only one attack each graphicly but you should see the individual attack/damage rolls in the text window.

Sounds about right. In 3E a thirteenth level fighter should have three attacks with base attack bonus of +13/+8/+3 respectively. It is good that the animation speeds up.
