If the game remains true to the pen and paper version of 3rd edition, then no. However, from what I've read of the game they aren't exactly following 3rd ed to the letter. http://www.ironworksforum.com/ubb/noncgi/smiles/mad.gif

Which is irritating.

Multiclassing works differently in 3rd edition, in that any race can do it. Dual classing no longer exists. However, multiclass isn't the same as it was. In 3rd edition, you start off as one class, but when you go up a level, you can choose to either go up in your current class, or to take a level in another class. So a lvl 1 fighter could become a lvl 2 fighter or a lvl 1 fighter/lvl 1 cleric.

What relevance does this have to kits? Well, instead of kits there are classes called 'Prestige Classes'. These are special high powered classes that are only achievable through multiclassing, and only after certain requirements have been met. So, a lvl 5 rogue could choose to become a lvl 5 rogue/lvl 1 assassin instead of a lvl 6 rogue - provided he met the requirements.

However, this may all be a null point, as from what I've read this system isn't being translated as accurately as it might be. For example, it looks like the assassin will be available as a class (or kit) straight away. http://www.ironworksforum.com/ubb/no...iles/fight.gif

I never liked kits, and I much prefer the 3rd edition system. However it looks like kits may be making an appearance in NWN. http://www.ironworksforum.com/ubb/no...miles/crap.gif

P.S. If you already knew all this crap about 3rd edition, I apologise for ranting on. http://www.ironworksforum.com/ubb/no...es/biggrin.gif

lol... http://www.ironworksforum.com/ubb/no...s/biglaugh.gif There's me preaching to the converted again. Well, perhaps my ramblings will serve as clarification or general usless information for those that are interested.

Anyway, as a player of 3rd edition, Grand Ranger, which would you prefer to see in Neverwinter Nights? Kits like in BG2, or multiclassing and Prestige classes like the 3rd edition Pen and paper game?

Hmm, there are some nice Prestiges class for 3E.. But there are also some nice Kits. And you have to multiclass for Prestiges class. Most people will probley prefer kits, but its pretty even in my book.

personaly, i think that 3e sucks (compared to 2e). they changed the whole system, and all of the dynamics of the game. however, it is still cool, just not as cool as 2e. of course that is just my humble opinion. i do like the prestige class addition, but some kits just kick ass. the blade for the bard is one of them. and the archer as a ranger kit just rules. of course, i wouldnt mind eventually having a 15th level elven arcane archer. those guys kick ass. i am going to be very disapointed if this one doesnt have BladeSingers in it. i looked for them in all of the damn games ive played on this computer, but alas, no BladeSingers. oh well, ill live i guess.

Hi there! I agree with that prestige classes are pretty cool, and I also miss some of the Kits from 2:ed. The blade, bladesinger archer and so on, was much more cooler in 2:nd edition, erhm.. I meanthey existed there! http://www.ironworksforum.com/ubb/no...miles/wink.gif

Stiil, I like the 3:ed rules and the way abot it, no morea about this http://www.ironworksforum.com/ubb/no...miles/wink.gif (Jusy had to say ithttp://www.ironworksforum.com/ubb/no...miles/wink.gif ) Well, I hope they will work throught the prestige classes cause many of them are just... worthless.. ou donīt get anything worth it so to speak. The level system in one class can be so determing for the character a smal sidestep to the wrong side can devestate the character.. IMHO

In NWN I donīt mind if they skip the prestige thing. I mean, better with kits, and an easy yet GIGANTIC world with lots of oppurtunities and a good game that doesnīt bug off while playing it. I think that some moderation the the rules will be needed, They will (as far as I have heard) that there are going to be feats with the game and the battle seems to be pretty easy and cool!

Well, lets join thumbs and hope it comes out pretty soon! http://www.ironworksforum.com/ubb/no...es/biggrin.gif

Hey Sharpedge! I agree with you on the new multiclassing system! Much easier and funnier!

Yeah, it makes for some really great combinations and unique characters. At the moment I am playing a character in the PnP game who started off adventuring as a fighter but has since become a lvl4 Fighter/lvl1 Cleric/lvl 1 Barbarian. He's still got a wide selection of feats, casts a few minor Clerical spells, and has the superb barbarian rage ability. Though he'll never be as combat efficient as a single class fighter, he is a lot more interesting. http://www.ironworksforum.com/ubb/no...iles/smile.gif

Do you play a lot of D&D Wolfgir? What campaign setting do you use? Sorry for all the questions but I'm just interested in what other groups get up to. Grand-Ranger, if you're still reading this, please tell me about your D&D game too. I've played a lot of D&D since I was very young but only with a limited group of people.
