just to see what other people have done....

i started with

human warrior
lizzord warrior
whiska rogue
oomphaz priest
gourk warrior
pixy wizard

they are currently (in same order (each has been through 2-3 roles))

human Samurai
lizzord Assassin
whiska Ninja
oomphaz warlock
gourk paladin
pixy bard

what do u think of my party?

Looks like a good party to me I haven't played bards heavily.... They do have some neat skills with the instruments, but I was never able to figure out a way to help them recover their stamina if they played too long.

But your party looks like it could do well. You've got all the spell schools covered, and everyone but the Oomphaz can wear some decent armor.

Looks like fun!

my oomphaz is my downfall.... has all the healing magic and scrolls.... but is the least armed :( lol

Bungleau 09-15-2006 01:12 AM

Yep... arming the oomphaz is difficult. Don't forget about rings and bracelets.... they *can* wear jewelry. The Mavin Signet is +2 AC, and the Ring of Gedda is another +1. Ring of Mariin is also +2 AC...

Dress her up, and she'll be forever grateful ;)

Priest Robes are +2 and I think they can wear robes. Several priest items add to AC, don't they?
It might make sense to have the Omphaaz master the shield skill. Take it to 5-6 and see if it makes much of a difference. You W&W pros should know if any of these ideas are feasible.

The wizard robes, when you can find them, are +4. And yes, Oomphaz can wear robes.

But remember that for armor, +2 mean plus 20% of the protection. Plate +2 is worth 4.8AC, I think, instead of 4. Robes +2 are worth .72AC instead of .6 (or whatever ridiculously low number they have).

Check it out when you bless them with armor... they don't really boost you up.

If you bless a ring or cuff, however, it's +1AC. So a silver ring +12 Armor is +12AC... a set of plate +12 armor is only worth 8.8AC, or 4.8 more than you started with.

Shield skill is pretty much useless. Shield doesn't factor into AC, and only affects your ability to parry. Later on, you'll prefer to have another weapon in that hand (when you get second strike) or a bow (when you've got fletchery).

I'm not a pro with W&W, but my Omphaaz doesn't do a lot of melee. He's a caster. I don't even use a weapon most of the time. With the shield skill at level 5, the Elephant blocks about 85% of attacks against him. He is left standing long after the dual-wielding warriors are nice little skulls. Does this not pan out in the long term? I only ran that party to the Temple before starting over....

I start over WAY too much

Hmmm... you may have found something that the rest of us have ignored. I may have to throw a shield on my next Oomphaz just to see how well it works.

After all this time, there are still new things to explore... and exploit :D
