I was playing my game when suddenly my pc ramdomly restarted. When I got back on it said *savegame version unavaliable*. I then found that my game had dissappeared from the save list and I couldn't revert it.
I checked my whole pc for lose connections and I couldnt find any, but there is a virus on my laptop. Could it possibly travel through a wireless connection that links the computers without me transferring data? That is the only possible explanation I have, (if it is one) |
Check in your savegame directory. That's where the file would be stored... savegame.001 or something like that, IIRC.
Unfortunately, if it's not there, there's no hope... unless it's somehow in the Recycle bin. And yes, a virus could transfer through your wireless link. It would have to be scanning for open connections, and your firewall should have prevented it from seeing you, and your anti-virus should have stopped it, but yes... it could have gotten through. Bummer, dude. I don't know if there's a good answer for you. |
eagle eye, Yes a virus could have traveled through.
If you do not mind, visit this site. http://wilderssecurity.com/ Post the virus name and other information in the bulletin "viruses and worms" I am there frequently, and the people there should be able to clean out your system in no time. |
The file's there... in Adobe format.
Can't open it. |
That sounds frustrating, Eagle Eye!!!
Have you tried backing up that file and changing the extention to see if it will then run?? |
I would. If I knew how.
|
Adobe format? You mean it has a .pdf extension? What happens if you change the extension back?
In any case, make sure the virus is gone before you continue. I suggest going to www.trendmicro.com for an on-line scan when you think you're clean.... |
