The spell trap key doesn't open the room to get to the lich. I'm using the walk through downloaded from this forum. Have I done something wrong?

Is it the spell trap key, or the lich key? Make sure you're trying to use the right one. I generally try every key in my inventory... :D

Unfortunately, I don't remember which key is which. Where did you get the one you're trying?

There are three keys in the Skull Castle.

1. The Bone Key - opens the door to the lich and the backdoor do the "treasure room".
2. The Labyrinth Key - opens the door at the top of the elevator in the "maze".
3. The Dungeon Key - opens the door to the lower floor of the castle.

The Bone Key and the Labyrinth key look the same so that you need to identify them if you want to know which is which. Or, you can use the Bungleau method :D The Dungeon Key is different.

I have the bone key and the labyrinth key. Neither of them work. I'm wondering if im in the right room. I can always build my lock picking skill to level 11 0r 12 and pick the dang thing--I'm at level nine now.

If the lock can be picked it does not sound like you are on your way to the lich. It definitely sounds like you have come up the elevator through the necromantic laboratory and into the library and are trying to get to the lich's secret stash.

To get to the lich (the first time around) you have to go back through the main hall near the entrance, up the stairs and down the hallway to the door with the music emanating from the room behind. One of the keys should work on that door. You cannot pick the lock on that door.

I was trying to get in the wrong room. I guess the walk through is incorrect. I was in the lich's study not the room alive with the sound of music. I've finished the Skull castle. This site has been great for advice! Thanks to all.
