Ok as i said before I palyed this when it first came out

here is the town hall and the mayor??

The manual mentions it as if I should be able to go there straight away

there are two buildings in my town that don't highlight when I move the mouse over them

You should be able to, Cayra. Are those two buildings in the "top" row? IIRC, the town hall and the wizards' guild?

If you can't, it's typically because you either don't have the codec to run the video files, or you need to decompress the video files in order for them to play. Instructions for decompressing are in the Tech Tips sticky thread at the top of the board.

Give that a shot and let us know. *sniff* Looks like the first smooth XP install just hit a stumbling block... :( Oh well... at least you should be able to play the game with it.

Ok did all that and although I'm running around the serpent temple at the moment... the town screen seems to be operative now


I remember now... last time I tried to play it there were no gates working

anyway.... yep works fine

Only one crash in 4 or 5 sessions

You might tweak your display settings for that... switching to a lower resolution can help, I believe. Or, if it's not *too* annoying, just leave it [img]smile.gif[/img]
