Sometimes when I'm playing Baldur's Gate 1, the game suddenly freezes, and I wait for like a minute, and then I'm able to play ahead again. It only happens once in a while, but it is kind of irritating, as my computer has been fixed a week ago (so I guess it's not a very big problem in hardware).
But every once in a while the screen suddenly goes black with all these vertical lines, in all sorts of colours. There's nothing to do then but press the reset button as CTRL-ALT-DELETE won't respond, and any other command (ALT-TAB, ALT-F4) won't repsond either. My question is; what the hell is happening? Is this a graphics problem, or something with Baldur's Gate? I've got a GeForce 2 MX200, and Windows XP does say that there's a problem with the card sometimes.... Why's this always happening with me!?!?!

It never happened to me. I have Win XP as well, though I use ATI Radeon VE. Why don't you go and see someone who knows a bit more about computers, because i guess the problem is in your hardware. I never heard of that problem in BG.

Ask at the official forum. Interplay or Bioware.

Sounds like a hardware problem, or maybe drivers. Try upgrading the drivers, and see if your cards cooler is gunked up or busted, especialy if this happens with other games. If your machines just been fixed, its possible the graphics card isnt seated properly. Happens in transport sometimes. Just open the case, remove the screw, remove and replace the card.

ive had problems a bit like this - every now and again the screen freezes and i have to hit reset. i have a geforce card and xp too so it might be a common problem. if anyone can give me any idea about whats happening or how to get rid of the problem id be grateful. it particurlally happens when entering busy places like beregost, and happens in bg2 about every 30 seconds...
