Okay, so I finally finish the Skull Castle and go back to town
to cash in on my loot. Low and Behold, I totally forgot about getting that Goshin's sheild for the Fighter Guild. I did find and dispatch him in the castle and I remember a shield being dropped. But at the time, I was so full of loot I just ignorned it and I had forgotten that I had this quest (easy to do, huh?). I tried to go back but of course, the sheild was gone. It seems this game likes to delete item drops (understandable to save memory), but certain quest items should be flagged as NON-deletable. Anyway, I really don't feel like reloading from before to do the Skull Castle and I want to know if I am missing anything BIG (like an ability) from not advancing to the final levels of the fighter's guild. My main guys have already completed every quest before so what will I miss out on? |
You don't miss anything major, except perhaps a guild level. But by this time, you should comfortably be at level 7 in the warrior guild.
Chalk it up to another @#$%!@#$% lesson learned for the next time :( |
As a quest item it should still be lying where it was dropped - probably in Goshin's pen.
I do not know whether quest items suffer from a parallel to the "inn bug", meaning that the items only become "non-deletable" after having been checked into a character's inventory. When I leave a dungeon having completed it I usually drop the keys appertain thereto. And they are always there when I return. Without having completed shield quest you will be unable to undertake the last quest at the warriors guild. (The "kill Ramakamil of Wyr" quest). Just a quest to slay a raging wizard. Well, it looks like ol' Ramakil's gonna have to wait until next game. Thank you for the info guys.
Hey I wonder if this will work: 1. I create a new throw away fighter char in the INn 2. I get him to accept the GOshin sheild quest. I wonder if this will trigger him to respawn again in the Skull Castle. I'll try it out... |
Worth a shot, but I don't think you'll succeed. Most "kill-em" quests are not repeatable (Mon the Sculz, Tevin Teporn, etc.). So I don't think that Goshin will come back to life (unlike the samurai ghosts).
Sorry to rain on the parade... :( |
Good advice bsftcs!
I hate those extra key's that are lying in the bottom of my thieves packpage... And yes, quest items remain there where you dropped it, but I missed Mon the Sculz too, I killed it and then noticed I didn't remember to get that mission to my another fighter. He never get that mission afterwards... RELOAD! |
SO i guess the only way to solve this problen is to haf all ur characters accept ANY killing quest and keep in mind to take back any quest items right? piece-of-cake! :D

It's no biggie really. I am on the other side of the sea now (through the shrine) and about to start the latter stages.
What's interesting about this game is that you can reset adventures and reuse some old characters. What I plan to do is make my Samurai a Valkyrie and my Warlock a Zenmaster (or maybe my Ranger). Then I'll run a new game through with those two and the Assasin that I already have. I think just having 3 chars will make up for any lack of challenge there may be (or will it?) |
Like I said, I suspect there's a chance. But I think it's a slim one.
Yeah, Goshin's death is not part of the quest. But to get the shield, you have to kill him (unless someone has tried pickpocketing him and leaving him alive... ?). And no other assassination quest allows the victim to re-spawn. So... if it works, I'll buy the next shout at the Boogre Bar. |
