Do different types of monsters prefer different races/classes of adventurers?

Wandering around Ish/N, I'm meeting quite a few Mountain Spiders. They seem to like Pixie Pies.
Last night was a great example. I would have met somewhere around 40 Spiders. Without fail, every single one of them targetted my Pixie Warlock with every attack.

I know I didn't cast Lure on him*. Does this demonstrate that Spiders Prefer Pixies? (Or is it just sheer randomness?)

If monsters do have favourite foods, has anyone taken any notes on it?

Melb_Wiz.
* I did some dumb things in those battles ... healing spiders, blessing them, hastening them ... but I didn't Lure them to my Pacifist Pixie. Other monsters were sharing it around the party, but the spiders really had it in for the Pixie.

I am always playing a solo character so that I don't know, but...
1. What is your pixie's PRE? The higher PRE the more attacks directed to the character! Yes, it lacks any logic but it is really so: I have seen it again and again when I have moved my "chests" (characters sitting in the inn and holding the equipment) from one town to another. The "true hero" had always higher PRE than the "chests" so that most of attacks were directed to the "true hero" and not to the "chests".
2. Does your pixie have the Leadership skill? The skill increases fighting abilities a bit but it also increases the chance of being attacked during a fight.

I think Radek has nailed it (as usual!). Presence will usually account for who gets attacked the most. Sometimes I think that the monsters just have it in for the weaker party members. I suppose I would do the same thing if I were in their shoes.....

As far as I know the monsters do not attack characters based on their 'threat' rating (eg, who can injure me the most?).

There is little you can do, aside from casting repel on your pixie, lure on one of your tanks and/or neutralizing threats with magic before they can get close... You could improve your pixies AC rating, maybe...

Don't be afraid to manoeuvre (sp?) around a lot. If you move away just before the spider is about to sting you you can completely avoid that attack. It's a little cheesy, but hey, why not?

Cheesy?!?!

I guess that tactic is, but that was the only way that I found to make quick money early in the game before I found out about the Inn Gold Bug. You make a few "Matrix" moves when those bandits start throwing their daggers at you and bam! you have a few hundred gold pieces after selling them.

As for the "favorite food" theory, I think it may be due to you presence and not how tasty your character looks...

I believe Radek gave you the answer there.

Also: Traps, etc. inside dungeons (like the boogre gauntlet) somehow always attack the last character in the party.
