As of this moment I have a level 10 priest who is training to become a monk. It's been more than two days past, but I still haven't managed the conversion..
Looking past all that, I was cleaning out the serpent hold when it happened. I'd managed to discard the Unholy Filth, and had made my way in to collect the serpent statue. To my dismay, on my way out I found seven, count them seven, piranha blocking the way out. If I had been playing any other character at the time, this would have been cakewalk. Yet, I was unarmed and unarmored. My only offensive spells at the time were venom bite and force of mind. Regardless, both would have been useless if the dang things remained underwater. I tried to push my way through, but it wasn't possible. So I went back and waited a few minutes to see if they'd disappear; well, they didn't. So I stood there trying to coax them in closer, but that wasn't working either. Suddenly I realized my health was going down, and I turned to find a nesting spider attacking me. So lets see, venom bite is useless and I have a limited amount of force of mind. To top it all off, my mana wasn't recharging. I managed to get the thing down into the yellow, but by then I was fed up. Ultimately, this was my sacrifice to my newfound "goddess".. (made it a little easier on the eyes ;) ) [ 07-21-2003, 11:53 AM: Message edited by: Nanobyte ] |
That sounds somewhat unpleasant. Fortunately your priest should have some useful healing spells. Oh, and one thing: Do not enter the quild in which you do your monk training or the training will be reset. I made that mistake a lot.

Well, no. My only hope of killing the ooze was with force of mind, so all my healing spells had been exhausted.
My monk training, is that the bushi dojo or the temple? I've been to the dojo quite frequently to check up on my training, but I haven't been to the temple in some time. |
BOTH guilds will reset your training.

I feel like crying about now..

The easy way to do the Monk quest, Nanobyte, is to simply divest your character of all possessions. Place all items either into their inventory or another's. Then, step outside the 'easiest' gate (that's the one which has the lowest level monsters on it's side) and stick him/her into a coner next to the wall of the city and the trees. Then go do something else for a few hours. My Monks have done their quests while I slept. I simply put them into that corner and went to bed. In the morning, I went over to the comp and took them back into town. I have no idea how much time had passed in the game but it was at least 2 game days.
I suspect you've already been able to change to Monk by now...but I thought this might help if you haven't. |
Hmmmmmm. Never had a monk before.
Maybe I should try again sometime, now that I know not to keep going back to the guild to check up on the ascension quest (thanks for the tip, macoati!) Cheers, Moiraine Sedai |
but i'm juz wondering...wat are the benefits of being a monk other than continueing to learn spirit spells (right?)??? and special traits or skills?
|
Magic capabilities and role specific skills and traits and further role ascension opportunities, restrictions to armour and weapons... No I do not think there are other benefits. But are there any other roles that have other categories of benefits?
