in the description of certain spells,it says cumulative.Does that mean that the effects of this spell are cumulative with similar effects of other spells,p.e. that the increased attack rating from a Bless spell stacks with the increased attack rating from Heroic Might? Or does it mean that benefits from repeat castings of the same spell stack?

On a sidenote,I wanted to change my priest to ranger ASAP to max vine magic and then change him to paladin. But a priest can only train in the priest guild (right?),and there I only have the possibility to change to paladin, monk or warlock.Do I have to change the priest to warrior first to get into the warrior guild and ascend to ranger there?

As far as I know you would have to change to paladin first.

Cumulative does mean what you think it does.

All available class changes will be shown to you in each guild you belong to. As a priest, you start out in the temple, and only have the choices you mentioned.

There is an alternative, however. You can start on the paladin quest, which makes you eligible to join the warrior guild. You can then cancel the paladin quest (by clicking on it again) and from the warrior guild, take the ranger quest. This is known as the guild-hopping trick; the only downside is the money you paid for the original class promotion. It's gone, and when you want to become a paladin later, you'll have to pay again.

I wasn't sure which of the two definitions is correct, that's why I'm asking ;)
Or do you mean that both of them are right?

Thanks for the guild hopping trick,I'll try that...btw is it considered a bug?

In my experience, most spells seem to be cumulative in expiration time and not in spell effect. Thus, two Bloodlusts will last twice as long as one Bloodlust and so on. On the other hand, two Bloodlusts will not fortify your attack twice. The same seems to be true for Frenzy, Heroic Might, Bless or Haste. An exception from this rule is the Toughen spell, which will always give you new 10 temporary HP.

I don't consider guild hopping to be a bug, but an exploit. We don't know for sure if the original developers intended it to be that way or not... so in my mind, they wanted me to do it when necessary :D

for the toughen spell, there is a neat bug if you arent running the patch that will enable you to get as much permanent hp as you want! further details will be explained by others.....

This seems the perfect opportunity for guild-hopping.
And Radek: Do you have a list of what part (effect or duration) of each cumulative spell the cumulativity applies to?

Radek 04-29-2003 03:31 AM

No, I haven't. It's a result of observation and investigation. I cannot assert that I KNOW something.
