Once again I hope you fine ladies and gentlemen of the forum can help me out:
About The Amulet of Life found at the foot of the Statue of Kerah in the Snake Temple: Does it serve any purpose apart from the resurrection spells that it contains? It is, I see, listed as a quest item and will disappear when restarting the game, but I have not experienced a time when it was in any way required to solve any puzzle or quest.

No you don´t need the Amulet of Life anywhere in the game. It´s a useful item in the serpent temple though. Those resurrect spells may come in handy. ;) If you wish, you can simply throw it away.

In my first game, when I didn't know much about W&W it becomed very handy.
Didn't know resurrect spell until in Shuregon castle and when I was killed by single shot and there's no saved game till hours I used that amulet to R
Resurrect my characters...

Now I had that spell before entering the Serpent Temple and now I know why it's good to make save...

But there's no use to that amulet if you can cast that Resurrect spell.
To use amulet, just click use button and scroll to the amulet and use it on the person you want to resurrect...

My guess to that it's like rat skull or that book of misfortune.
D.W imagine that they could be some quest items, but never coded them into play...
