Gidday,

if I change my ranger to another character can he still utilise the fletchery skill to make money (man its nice to finally have some dollars to spend!!)

Yes, he can. As long as your former ranger will have the bow equipped, he will continue duplicating arrows.

Bungleau 12-03-2002 09:46 AM

What that also means is that if you switch to a role that can't equip bows (like a warlock), your fletchery ability stops. So if that is in your future, you may want to make sure more than one character can create arrows. I found that out the hard way...

hmm...........maybe i'll put that in mind in the future! :D

You could spend some time fletching a large quantity of enchanted arrows before you change classes. I made that mistake once with my solo wizard & had little cash for a while. I got around it by buying & selling arrows at the bushi dojo but it was very laborious. In case you didn't know(possible spoiler ahead)

If you have the merchant trait you can buy arrows at the bushi guild & sell them for more than what you paid. Bungleau has a special word for it but I forget what it is & it's not in my "Oxford english dictionary", but that's not unusual it's probably an american word which is a different language.

Bungleau 12-05-2002 01:36 PM

Actually, Kev, the word is "arbitrage", and it's French in origin, IIRC. It should be in your Oxford, at least if you've got one from the 80's onward

Arbitrage refers to taking advantage of the fact that price differences exist. An old example involves someone who discovered that in Holland, people didn't like brown eggs, and in France, people didn't like white eggs. So he went back and forth, buying the useless brown eggs in Holland and selling them in France, and buying those trashy white eggs in France and selling them in Holland. I may have the countries wrong, but that's one of the earliest examples I've heard of.

And you don't have to have the merchant skill to do it in W&W -- any magical arrow is sold cheaply at the guild's "private" store, but commands a large price at the public store. Starts with Arrows +1 in Valeia's warriors guild.

Then enchant 'em up, and watch your money problems go away.

I keep forgetting that terminology, Bungleau, but the concept is pure genious.
So Nutman, get out there & arbitrage, arbitrage, arbitrage.
