Is there any limit to skills and traits a char can acquire ??
If the space for display for traits and skills get filled, i may not learn any more skills traits ??? Some traits disappear from the list, for only 10 can b displayed. Do i unlearn those traits?? Also Oath of swords and Oath of scrolls seem to contradict eachother. I it ok to have both traits ?? |
There´s no limit on the number of skills and traits you can aquire! When the space for the skillls and traits get filled they will drop out of sight. Here´s a warning, when a skill drops out of the display you can´t spend skill points in it any more! You can train it in a guild of course if it´s possible. You don´t unlearn anything As for the oath traits, getting one removes the other... That is if you have Oath of Swords and you get Oath of Scrolls the swordoath trait will be no longer...

Warning for the soloists:
As Willow has said, the skill and the trait windows lack scrollbars. If you gain too many traits, some of them will be pushed out of sight. It does not matter to much. The traits are still here and they are still active (see Willow's note about the "oath" traits). Another thing are skills. Once they are pushed out of the window, you cannot invest your skill points in them any more. Well, you can train them in the guilds. 1. The skill table ends with the following skills: - Gallantry - Prowess - Deathstrike (the last skill) Deathstrike can be trained in Bushi Dojo. Nobody will train you Gallantry and Prowess. Therefore, be careful with gaining new skills until you have finished your training of Gallantry and Prowess. 2. Let us consider a solo character with the following skills: - weapon - 2nd Weapon - Sorcery - all 6 magic schools - Artifacts - Forge - Athletics - Scout - Disarm Traps - Enchants - Blessings - Gallantry - Prowess - Deathstrike Such character has filled his skill window almost completely. The character has ONLY ONE FREE SKILL SLOT. Therefore, be careful with adding new skills to the list. If you add two skills, the Deathstrike skill vanishes from the window. 3. The training session in Ishad N'Ha. We can speed up training of our solo character by means of gaining high guild levels in Ishad H'Ha and then starting change roles. If we decide to become a bard, too, then we gain the Music skill. We cannot prevent the skill from growing - as long as we are a bard, the skill will improve whenever we level up. Therefore, the Music skill occupies the last free slot in the skill window. We cannot add anything to the list without pushing some skill out of the window. We'd better not become a bard during the training session. |
Radek,
Are you saying that the skills are always in the same order? My solo Loumistro the ranger has already had gallentry run off the end of the list. When he becomes a samurai will prowess already have disappeared off the list? |
I do believe there is a consistant order to the skills which may not be apparent when you're first playing and different characters are getting different skills but as you gradually fill out the list of available skills - they get listed in the same order.
So it is good advice to put your points into the skills that may scroll off the screen soon. Then there is always the character editor to assist when a skill has scrolled. Wyv |
There is a consistent order to how skills appear. There is also a *potential* back door when a skill scrolls off the list.
When you level up, you get all skills that you might be able to apply points to. When Missy Hissy just became a samurai, Prowess appeared in the last slot. Now, I was nervous. One wrong move, and my ability to raise prowess is gone forever. But it isn't. Note that a number of the skills are have no skill points yet -- they're things you *can* train in. When Missy switches from Samurai to warlock, she will lose axe and mace off her skill list (since she hasn't trained in them yet). She may also lose some other skills that haven't been touched, and hopefully, won't add too many more in the meantime. So just remember: certain skills may scroll back onto the list if you change classes. But since there's no guarantee, apply those skill points to the last skills on the list for as long as you can. |
erm...........if u want to know more about the skill editor ( i don't know whether i'm supposed 2 say this........), check out my thread named "skills problem" which is on page 2 of this forum i think........ ;)

1. The skill order. Yes, the skill order is fixed.
2. The disappearing and reappearing skills. Every role has a "natural" set of skills. The set isn't too specific: all fighter classes have the same set of natural skills for example. The sets differ only in details. Now: a) If you choose a new role, then all "unnatural" skills WITH PURE ZERO SKILL LEVEL will dissapear and the freed positions will be filled with new "natural" skills. Not all "natural" skills will appear - only the free slots will be filled and nothing will be scrolled out of the skill window. At least, nothing will be scrolled out if nothing has been scrolled out so far. b) No skills with nonzero skill level will disappear. c) The new "natural" skills appear in their place in the skill order. Therefore: If you have scrolled out Gallantry, then the Prowess skill is lost forever most probably. If you become a Samurai, your new natural set of skills will contain Kung Fu, all weapons, some other skills, and Prowess. The Kung Fu and weapons will fill the freed positions, Gallantry will not be scrolled back most probably, and Prowess will "appear" behind Gallantry. Your only hope is, that the list will scroll back after removing the unnatural skills and before the new natural skills will be filled up. I don't know. I have always managed to prevent the skill list from "overflowing". 3. A conclusion: Always improve all wanted skills to 1 before changing role. 1 is sufficient. The skill will never vanish during subsequent role changes. You can improve the skill later. |
yea n also dun forget: when u r in ur appropiate roles, some skills increase NATURALLY as radek said (i think...). for example, the warlock class increases ALL magic-related skills like suncraft etc. every time u lvl up!
so sometimes natural skills u dun want (which i think u WOULD want them, tt's y u change roles!!!) might increase naturally n occupy space in the skills pages. haiz...............if only a patch which allows u to scroll through ur skills is released, i would imagine the No. of downloads in 1 day: 500000000! :D |
