Alright, I know I should be able to do this, but unfortunately I entered the mines without the identify spell. Now I can't get the unknown scroll (miners writ) to work. What can I do? I have killed the Stout King and now if I don't get out of here soon I'm going to go nuts if I don't get killed.

Maybe you are using the wrong unknown scroll. When you used the scroll to enter the mine odds are that it was returned to the wrong charactor. Try looking at all your charactors for an unknown scroll, that could be it.

The scroll is normally returned to your first character (the one on top left) regardless as to who was talking. It appears as an unkown scroll..

The absolute last resort would be to play around with the carts until you find the right one to go to the guardroom, dispose of the guard and press the switch yourself.

Young one,
I didn't know you could get to the guard room by cart. I thought that I had been everywhere. How do you get there?

Also, even if you can't identify the writ, you can still read it. Find the writ and then put it in the box to get out.

I've usually had it returned to the first character in the party, regardless of who actually gave it to him.

Welcome to the board, Storm Shadow!

You don't need to identify the writ to be able to use it. As already mentioned, you can read it to know which of the various unknown scrolls you have is actually the writ. The default is for the guard to give it to the first character in line, if that inventory is full it should end up in the second character's inventory, etc.

Hope you will be free soon!!! ;)

actually, it is quite easy 2 indentify the miner's writ PHYSICALLY without reading it. the other normal spell-casting scrolls look like neat straight letters, whereas the miner's writ, as it is special, it will look like a curved n crumpled piece of paper wif the red ribbon around it......
as other scrolls may look like this, you should read all the scrolls taht look likt the 1 i described. this is to help quicken your search!

Jeez... did I miss that Storm Shadow was a new poster? Okay, time to lay off the M&Ms...

Welcome to the boards, Storm Shadow. May you find the Gael Serran to be both a challenge and an opportunity.
