Hello fellow wizards and warriors...

I still get a lock in the ame, every time I want to buy something.
I made sure I´ve got 512 Mb swap memory and killed al running tasks untill Systray and Explorer are the only running processes.

I´ve got A AMD K6-2 400Mhz, Riva TNT2, Sound blaster Digital 4.1.

I downloaded even the unofficial patch... Now I´m lost...

Please help me to get back on my horse to hack and slash some rats...

Welcome to the board Baron! Too bad about the game! We still need some additional information, especially on your OS and version of directx. If you´re running winxp or win2k there are some help in the tech thread and Storm Shadow gave thie excellent advise if you´re running XP

I have a 4300S Dell with Windows XP. Every time I tried to play Wizards and Warriors my game would lock up and shut down. I queried Microsoft as to how to get the game to run and what they told me was to go start and click on run. Then they said tell it to run msconfig. When the window comes up click on selective startup and click only load system services, and load startup items. Then original boot.ini

Then they said to open the services window and disable all but the following:
app mgmt
windows audio
Fast user
RIP listener
Plug and Play
Remote Proced call...
Remote Proced call... (yes, there are two of them)

Then open the startup window and disable all but the following:
tgcmd
tgfix
real play
Q Agent
alogserv
msmsgr
WkDetect
ReLaunch

After this you click on apply and then OK. It will then ask you if you want to restart your computer. Do so. Then get ready to begin the game. Not much else works when the computer is set this way and you end up having to go back to start, run: msconfig and click on normal startup to reset the normal settings.

I know it's a rather involved proceedure but at least I can play the game!
We´ll do our best to get your game working!!

Hello Willow,

I´ve got Win98 SE and DirextX8... You need some more info?

Thanks for the reply.

Welcome to the board, Baron Sengir!!

I'll bump Saz' techie help desk thread since I believe it has scrolled off.
I'm not familiar with Win 98 SE . I know the game runs well with Win 98 but this is obviously a variant and I'm not certain what differences there are.
DirectX 8 has been known to cause some players problems and downgrading to DX7 has been a solution.
I'm not a great techie though - so hopefully you will get wiser advice soon!

After a bit of digging I think I´ve got an answer for you Baron Sengir! It´s not the OS or directx but probably your TNT2 driver! This is a problem that has been discussed before in here and the answer should be in the techie thread! This game doesn´t run with the card NVIDIA TNT 2 card when using detonator3 driver, and maybe it´s the same with the riva TNT 2 chip... The advise from techies in here is to "downgrade" your driver. Check page 1 and 2 of the tech help thread for a lot of information for this problem. I do hope this will help you to get the game running again!
