Welcome to the board Buckthor! A shame it had to be with a problem, lol. The gurus, and they are the best(!!!), on this site will need some additional information to solve this, your os, videocard, version of directx, drivers etc. etc..

Just run dxdiag and youŽll find all the info you need!

Welcome to the board, Buckthor!!!

Sorry to hear you are experiencing problems but we have managed to solve most that people have reported.

To help us help you, please tell us about your computer set up - OS, memory, vid card, version of DirectX, etc etc. Anything you can tell us about your computer will help us spot the problem and solve it.

MEANWHILE - you might browse through Saz' techie help desk thread and see if a solution isn't already posted in there.

Well, weŽll try and fix this so you wonŽt miss this game. I was browsing through the tech thread and found this...
Quote:

Unbelievably, the solution was installing the latest Intel Indeo
video and audio codecs. You can get them at
"www.ligos.com/indeo/downloads/form.shtm". You don't need to get the
source code or demos, just the codecs.

I couldn't believe my eyes when I actually left town and could move
around outside without an immediate crash to the desktop!! The
serpent creature outside started talking to me about Gareth and I
almost started jumping for joy that the infernal game was finally
working!!

The game looks nice, but I'm not picky about graphics since I still enjoy playing DOS VGA games. It works for me in all resolutions, hardware or software, all detail levels. And at 1024x768 Hardware, my interface buttons look the same as in other modes, not ugly and unreadable. I do find nighttime very dark though and I don't enjoy turning up the gamma or the brightness on my monitor. Maybe I'll play with the lights off.

I believe that a previous game I installed had overwritten the Indeo
codecs with its own. How I wish for the simple days of debugging DOS
games where all you had to deal with was config.sys and autoexec.bat.
Who could have guessed it was Indeo? After so many hours of
troubleshooting (thank god I decided to not go through the hassle of
reformatting and installing Windows again), the problem is fixed.

Now this was for crashes leaving Valeia, but it could be something. One other thing you can try is to extract your townmsk*.avi files with virtualdub. Links to that is in the tech thread! IŽll root it out. But bear in mind 64MB RAM is the minimum requirement. Like Wyv IŽll suggest:get at least another 64Mb!!
