I cant seem to catch him, I am unable to "slow" him, kill him or even touch him. What must I do to find the proff I need to complete the quest?

Welcome to the board, Dryd!!!

You don't have to catch or kill the leprechaun to satisfy this quest. What you do need to do is explore Anephas' Tomb (temple of Isis) and find the area where you go visit Kerah. From her area you can swim out and you will find a small area with the leprechaun's treasure - THAT is proof!

Spells are next to useless AGAINST Leprechaun. However if you pile Haste, Heroic Might and Bless on main fighters. especially he who carries Mavin Sword then all you need to do is get up to Leppy and start hitting him repeatedly and very hard, if you're lucky you'll bully him into a corner and while he's busy raniting 'You can't catch me' you promptly beat the hell out of his backside.
