Whilst in the thieves maze I happen to stumble on Winksi Perforate (or whatever he's called). Since he's an evil mage and dying anyway Jaheira decided to put him out of his misery by perforating him a bit more (geddit?). I was hoping for some exp and useful loot - instead I lose 10 reputation points!! That seems way over the top to me - after all he is a baddie.

It's Winski Perorate IIRC. And I find it very agitating that you cannot kill him without suffering a rep loss. It seems that now, after Sarevok discarded him, he isn't evil anymore (must have been Sarevok's influence ).

What alignment is he anyway? Also why should your rep drop when there is no-one there to see you do it?

SixOfSpades 03-20-2003 03:36 PM

This is probably the stupidest Reputation problem is the whole damn game. I've never done a Detect Evil to determine his alignment, but Winski Peorate is a known accomplice of a known homicidal despot. And, if you do kill him, there's not a single witness present. What the hell gives?

On the bright side, by the time you enter the Thieves' Maze, Reputation is now utterly worthless to you (unless you're a Paladin, a Ranger, or need to keep Good & Neutral people in the party).

He is considered to be an innocent. And you get no XP for killing him.

yeh I just came across that too (as I finished the game again yesterday). its a pretty gay penalty, and I reloaded for the principle of the matter, but i guess it wouldnt have mattered either way for me

There are always the gods to witness your evil deeds ;) . As long as the priests are able to listen - they will know too.

I totally agree. You won't believe what happened to me. I killed some innocent commoners on the street of Baldur's Gate and I lost my reputation. Now it's 1, and I'm a fallen paladin. Is this some kind of bug or what??? :D
