Hi all. First, I have a 12th level wizard. I've concentrated on sun spells and have most through 7th level. I have stone spells up to 5th level. I want to change roles but don't want to lose the ability to gain stone spells. I also don't want to waste any more skill points on stone skill (past 7th that is). What role should this wizard choose to still have the ability to get stone spells without having to use tons of skill points?

Also, how many books are needed to gain the zen master role? Is it four? Where do you go to gain this role?

How do you use the traits that you accumulate when you train? Or does the character automatically "use" them once they have them? Such as sneak etc.

Finally, what is the dragon breath icon do on the left side of the screen?

Thanks everybody. Enjoy.

Hi Tahawus!!

The only other roles which can learn STONE spells are Valkyrie and ZenMaster (there is a handy chart on pg 3 of the BEST TIPS thread).

There are 4 books to become ZenMaster and you have to go to the Dojo in Brimloch Roon.

Most traits are just used. There's a nice chart on this in the Best Tips thread too!

Dragon Breath icon is for special abilities that your character can gain during the game - such as EVIL EYE, DRAGON BREATH and many others. I think there is something on this in the Best Tips thread too! ;)

Once you change roles, you get to advance in spells that your new role takes. So for example, if your wizard became a samurai, he could learn sun spells. Other spells can be learnt, but only at half the skill level, eg if you are level 8 in stone, then he can learn up to level 4 spells when he advances above level 4.

The only roles to learn stone spells is valkyrie and zenmaster, neither of which are available until almost the end of the game. So in terms of role change, I recommend your wizard specialize in stone spells (he can learn sun spells by becoming a samurai) so hang around with your wizard until you reach level 7 stone - meteorstorm is one of most powerful spells in the game. This might only take one more level since you can go to the magic shop and pay for training. Also remember, you can buy some stone and sun spell books and learn more spells that way.

To be a zenmaster, you need all four tomes and the last one is found in Cet's Pyramid - the last dungeon in the game.

As far as I know, all of the traits that you learn are automatically invoked.

Certain items in the game (evil eye, ring of fire or something,) bestow special abilities. So say one of your characters acquires the dragon breath ability (it doesn't matter if knows the actual spell or not), then if you click on the dragon breath icon, your character casts the dragon breath spell and his stamina is based on the column next to it. Sadly, this feature isn't very useful in this game. I prefer to just have the cloaked icon and decline the other abilities

Um, WARLOCK was never mentioned here. Warlocks can learn Stone also without penalties.

Great feedback everybody!! Thanks!!

By the way, a character from my previous game has all four tomes but I waited to attain the zen master role because I thought I would give the books to one of my new characters in my new game. Can this be done?

I have found that any character can learn spells in any school they've started. So once you jump from wizard to something else, you can still learn the sun and stone spells.
