i get to a chest in a certain part of durlags tower inside there is a flame tounge and a staff of striking(i think) but there is a very very deadly trap and when i cant disarm it, when i open it anyway an arrow fires from the wall until the person who opened the chest dies

Ive had many problems disarming traps in durlags tower, is there anything i can do, or am i doomed to not having them??

Why do you think Durlag's gives you all those potions of master thievery? ;)Also try chasing that master thievery potion with a potion of perception.

The traps on chest aren't triggered when the chest is unlocked, only when it's opened. So if you can't untrap a chest, send a thief or mage over to unlock it and another char with good saving throws and high HP to crack the chest open.

EDIT: This "arrow flies from wall" thing, is it many arrows striking the character or is the character taking damage every round from the arrow? You might have gotten hit by a Melf's Acid Arrow trap.

This is very easy to deal with. Send a Mage to open the chest.

Make sure the Mage has Mirror Image up. Chances are, all damage will be totally negated.

There are times when Mages make better thieves then the actual Thief himself.

its not melfs acid arrow its litteraly arrows and they will just fire ande fire and fire and fire and fire (not fire damage)

ill try it but the arrows will jsut keep striking until i die

Sounds a little strange.

Try using haste on your toughest character. When he opens the chest have him run to another room this should prevent the arrows from hitting you.

Or use Protection from arrows.

Potions of Master Thievery will be of no help whatsoever in this instance: The only skills they affect are Pick Pockets and Open Locks.
Potions of Perception, however, will boost all 4 Thief skills. Don't enter Durlag's Tower with less than 80% Find Traps--and if you do, you'd better be carrying some Potions of Perception.
