just to get to know everyone, i just want to post this and seeing what everyone's favourite rpg game is.
I have to say that i've really enjoyed this W&W, but i think that final fantasy VII is still better than it and my favourite, FFVIII right behind that one too. |
At the momenty it's a tie between Diablo (the original, for the reasonable Sean Conerry impersonation and music), Planescape Torment (in spite of the setting, the rip off of the Speed music, the awful setting, greatest role playing game as far as player customisation goes), BG (first one, second one wasn't as much fun due to mirroring sprites (a Torment problem) evil NPC's just casting all defensive spells and then cloning themselves to make for very boring encounters, having to be high levels etc), Severance (virtually unplayable but rewarding, I once killed a goblin with a bottle and murdered an orc by throwing axes, clubs, a goblins leg and the same goblins head at him, dwarfs can just waltz past most of the traps (designed by a dwarf for humans and large monsters) it's just great fun, Wizard's and Warriors, Might and Magic 6&7 (8 was a rush job and obviously unfinished + the mix and match monsters only party system just wasn't for me, I prefer to stick with characters and watch them develope). So, that's about it for now( not forgetting Age of Wonders and a few other little gems) but like I said, my preferences change every day And nobody has yet managed to persuade me into believing that any of the Final Fantasy games are role playing games (even people who play them tell me that they're not).

Wizardry 7: Crusaders of the Dark Savant

My favourite RPG?
The entire BG-series,definately. But shouldn't my favourite this or that be posted in general discussion?? CU |
Hmmm,
On multi-platform, I would say this (no particular order and too close to really set them appart): - Dungeon Master, Atari - Final Fantasy, NES - Wizards and Warriors, PC - Zelda, NES - Baldur's Gate and SotCS (haven't finished it yet and then it's up to BG 2 |
on the pc side, my favourite rpg ever has to be FALLOUT 2. it's a nice change of pace from a fantasy setting. on other platforms:
NES: dragon warrior Sega Genesis: Phantasy Star series (sci-fi rpg) PSX: Final Fantasy VII |
Diablo II is my favorite multiplayer rpg, wizards & warriors is my favorite offline rpg and then i also like arcanum. Since i just started playing rpgs 1 year ago i still have to get my feet wet w/ bg 1 & 2, diablo I, and Wizardy 8. I also can't wait till Dungeon Siege and Elderscrolls:Morrowinds come out.
|
BG2:SoA/TOB is No1 on my top-list.
Also I like Fallout2, M&M6 (this one is the best of M&M games, IMO), FF8 (never had a chance to try another game from the series) and Daggerfall. |
I haven't yet played W&W, but I'm hoping to add it to my favorite RPG list soon. It will join:
-- Daggerfall (love the nonlinearity!) -- Might & Magic VI (love the designed world, rather than Daggerfall's randomness) -- Ultimas IV, VII and Underworld (plot! story! fun!) -- Diablo II + expansion (very light RPG, but deeper than original Diablo--just enough to be addictive) -- The Exile games from Spiderweb Software -- Fallout Baldur's Gate never did it for me. I bought it on the day it came out, played for 2 hours and never did again. It keeps calling me to try again, though. |
Just how far back into ancient history are we supposed to go with this topic?? :D
Actually, this is a tough question. I've played so many and my tastes have changed over time. These are not listed in any particular order and certainly won't reflect any 1-10 rating. Wiz 1, 2 & 3 Wizards Crown Wasteland W&W Might & Magic - the early games Below the Root Bard's Tale - early ones Diablo I - this was a great game for "relaxing" upon replay Arena Gads, I can't even remember any more! lol!!
