I recently purchased W&W at Babbage's for $10--then my wife went into labor and had a baby, and I never opened the box (I don't think that this was related to the W&W purchase). Today I was at Babbage's and found the Collector's Edition for $15. What do you wizards think: is it worth the extra cash and trouble to exchange for the Collector's Edition?
Thanks for the opinions. I'm looking forward to getting started soon! |
Is there a difference in the games or is there some special design or packaging?
|
Yep, I suppose I should have listed the differences: the Collector's Ed. is supposed to contain two metal miniatures (the kind people paint, I think) and a "mini strategy guide". amazon.com's description mentions a poster-size map; I don't know what size map comes with the game.
None of these additions really strikes me as a must-have, but I just wondered what anyone else thought. |
Not worth the 5 bucks dude (and I'm talking Aussie dollars there - definitely steer clear if like 3 quarters of the known world, your currency has real value) - I have collectors edition because it was the only one on the shelf - the tiny guide was of little value - the miniatures are really miniature, and are hiding beneath the feet of a miniature Yoda I inhereited from somewhere. Save your money :D .

Don't upgrade!!
My regular edition came with a "poster sized map" - did your's? For the extras they are offering it really isn't worth it. Their strategy guide (small or large version) is affectionately known as the Tomb of Misinformation. You'll get more help here on this board and have a lot more fun while you're at it! ;) Wyv |
I would also say don't upgrade. The game is the same, all you get is additional stuff that you really don't need. As far as the "strategy guide" is concerned, look at the Best Tip section and you'll get much better info. As far as the map goes, paper (regular) vs clothe (collector... if memory serves well). Figurines: unless you play D&D or another RPG on a regular basis, do you really need a metal figurine to play W&W? Save your 5$ and use it to pay for your internet connection to visit this site

Thanks a lot for the opinions, everyone. This is exactly what I was looking for. I'm going to stick with the W&W standard edition which I already have and use the extra $5 to buy Pepsi so I can stay awake to play it!
