Could someone give me precise instructions as to where to find the cistern lever after exiting Adrianna's room? I just can't find it... help!

I'm not really sure to which lever you are referring to. To exit the room you'll have to walk past all of her vampire "friends". You'll end up in another waterfilled tunnel. If I rember correctly there is a lever on the right side wall which you have to flip to open up the exit through the swimming pool.

Hmm... Well I entered the room through a waterfilled corridor on the east side. Where is the exit then?

The exit is at the other end of the room (South?) in the center of wall behind the alter or whatever (I just remember having to go around something to get to the door. There may be a switch on your right as you face the door.
