Okay, talked to the rat thieves, got the job and headed off to the Stout Mines. I found the guy and did everything I knew to do, but when I get back to the rats, he says "Ahh, he's dead huh? I figured as much." But when it comes to getting payment he won't give me the dagger!! He keeps trying to send me to boogre prison. I even went and cleaned it out and then tried again. I have killed him, but nothing. What am I missing? Also, I have heard nothing about what to do for the Valkerie role, anyone have a clue?

To become a Valkyrie, you need to have a female character in your party toss the heart of a lich into a black flame.

Hello Sauron, and welcome to the board! I don't know really what's the problem with the little rat. If you have recieved the quest from Scanthril and you killed Rascalion (hope I got his name right) you should get the dagger when you ask for payment.

It will be sometime before you can ascend to Valkyrie, and as Neb says you need to have a female character. For a spoiler you can try this link, which directs you to the Best tips thread here on the board (a great thread with LOTS of useful info. btw)

You need to ask Scanthril about a "job" again - this is a two part quest. You don't get the dagger from part one. Good luck!
