Hey,

I killed Scanthril a long time ago and took the daggers he had on him. Went to the pawn shop but was not offered to become an assassin.

Is there any way I can still ascend to the assassin role, or is that blown?

The dagger Scanthril has on his person isn't an Assassin's dagger; it's a mere skull dagger.

To become an assassin you must :
1) NOT kill Scanthril until AFTER you get the dagger
2) Complete the kill Raskillion quest, and return and ask for your reward
3) May get asked what happened to some other dude - is the body you get the writ from for the stout mines.
