Hey all. I'm new to this board although I've been reading the posts for the past few weeks to help me out. I just beat shurgeon castle and am on my way to the boogre prison. I have a couple of questions though that still are bugging me and I can't seem to find an answer for them. I was hoping maybe you all could help.

1) How do I get my warlock to get Level 8+ spells to show up in the spell book during a level advancement? I've gotten the training for them (up to level 9), but they don't ever appear for me to select to add to my spellbook. Do I need to raise some of stats/skills?

2) How do I use the teleport and/or create portal spells? Whenever I cast create portal, it makes a portal that disappears after a few seconds.

3) How do I get my Intelligence, Spirituality, Will, Dex, etc...stats to go past 18?

4) When/where will I talk to Earthsmeador to get the sword and such (I'm sick of getting fried by him on that plain).

Thanks for all your great posts. I'd appreciate any help that you can offer me.

I want to be a magister rather than elite waterdeep guard. The pic is so cool, because it's from the cover of EOB II http://www.ironworksforum.com/ubb/no...iles/smile.gif

1. The spell levels only go as high as 7, so don't advance your characters any higher than that in any school of magic.

3. The training in the guilds will train you higher than 18, but they won'y give you a price first, so you pay whatever they want.

2. Try casting Portal in different spots; the location has a direct impact on the lasting success of the spell. Outside dungeons seems more successful than inside.

3. You can also increase stats up to 24 by invoking ankhs.

4. The big guy chills out in the cave at the top of Dragon's Spire. You'll meet him after working your way up the interior of the Spire.

Just to add some details:

If you're planning to change role for your spellcasters BEFORE they learn all spells from their schools of Magic, they will need to know that School at level higher than 7 to get further spells. F.e., let's say we have a warlock who knows Sun magic at 4th lvl. and we're switching him to paladin. Now to get Sun spell lvl.5 our warlock/paladin should know Sun magic at lvl.10 (twice the level of spell), because paladins are not specialists in Sun magic, usually they do not learn it.

I believe it is convinient to try Teleport after its creation - just to be sure that it works and works properly. Cast Create Portal, then, after getting a message "Portal Created", walk aside and cast Teleport - you will see whether this Portal is functioning. It is better to know that something is wrong with your portal when you are creating it, then to know these bad news somewhere very far from desired point of destination...

Good luck!

P.s. (Where are my manners?)
And welcome to the forum, Bigskank!

1. Spells only go up to level 7, the continued training is useless, don't train in them after level 7.

2. When you cast create portal, the portal appears for a few seconds, like you said, and then you simply don't see it anymore. Just cast Teleport and you'll warp right to the spot that you put the portal on.

3. You can raise *most* of your stats up to 20 in the guilds. The only ones you can't are the ones that no guild will train you in. To get them up higher than that, use the several ankhs you find around. It's always a good idea to save any ankhs you get until you have a character who is at the max for a particular stat so you can raise it higher. The maximum for any stat is 24.

4. You'll meet Erathsmedor in Dragonspire mountain. I don't remember getting burned by him after then, but I did kill him shortly after I first met him (if you decide to kill him, make sure you talk to him and get the Mavin FIRST. I'm not sure, but if you kill him first, you may screw things up and not get access to the room the Mavin is in, thus effectively causing you to start over).

PS - Sorry Wyvern, I know you hate it when people whack Erathsmedor but I was just warning him in case he decided to do that wicked deed. And I only whacked Erathsmedor my first time, before I had the wisdom of the wise sages http://www.ironworksforum.com/ubb/no...miles/wink.gif.

And of course, I should say WELCOME TO IW BIGSHANK!!!
