This is the point where you need to go back and complete Shurugeon Castle to get that item (and learn the "magic word"). Otherwise, Erathsmedor will ignore you and not produce the Mavin. When you return step right "into" the big guy to begin your conversation.

Unless you just walk in and kill him. After which you can freely wield the mavin.

PS: again, I'm not promoting this kind of behaviour, I'm just passing the info for educational purpose.

And neither can my 2 warriors without my priest.

I can get him down to like 50% but then all my characters is dead..
but then again.. All my characters are only lvl 12 warriors/mages.
