I am installing W&W on a different computer for a friend to play. She is creating her characters and when the spell books come on, there is this message at the bottom of the screen: HR Bad GWAVE2DINIT = 0x80070057

Anyone know what the problem could be? Thanks.

Hi Lady Avalon!!

Cross post to Saz's techie help desk thread -

Also include information about your friend's computer - OS, memory, vid card, version of DirectX - any information that might help the techies pinpoint the problem.

Thanks Wyv. It's been awhile since I've been on this forum and didn't see Saz's help desk.

Lady A - we try to keep it on page one - sometimes it falls off to page 2!

Far too useful to let it go further back than that though!

Hope you will have an answer to your install problems soon!!

Thanks Wyv. Nice to see you again, been awhile. I've been hanging out on the BG2, GD and other forums here. Is Saz the only one who answers at his help desk? I am going to try and uninstall and reinstall and see what happens.

Hi again!!

No, Saz isn't the only one that answers! We've got a number of posters who are great with the techie problems. I'm sort of leaning towards the problem might be the version of DirectX but can't really tell without knowing more about your friend's machine.

There are tips about the DirectX 8 problems in Saz's thread and in the Best Tips. We'll get you sorted out one way or another! http://www.tgeweb.com/cgi-bin/ubb/no...iles/smile.gif

After uninstalling and reinstalling a few times, I think I finally got the game working, at least for now.
