I'm sure this has already been posted and answered, but I have spent the last 30 minutes searching, and haven't found the answer.

Last night while playing I somehow managed to get my newly purchased boat stuck on a sandbar (near Talrik's boat).

After talking to the old pirate and wandering the landscape (Gawd, I HATE those darn creeping spores or whatever they're called), I tried to sail off and what do you know....I'm stuck!

Is this supposed to happen? If now, how in the heck do I get my boat off the sandbar?

You don't need the boat to get on with the game. However, if you want to use the boat, you will need the teleport and create portal spells. Swim away from the boat, cast create portal, swim back to boat, take the helm, and cast teleport.
