Hello again i know i just posted a question but i was going through the forum and i saw something
Dyneir can be in your group?? i looked all over gnoll stronghold and i couldnt find her is she there or do i have to have minsc or edwin in my group? and what class is she and is she good? |
she is in one of the pits i forget which one exactly, she's the best good mage in the game, edwin's a little better overall but is evil
|
Yes, she can be in your party. She is an Invoker, and her stats are quite good. You do not need Minsc or Edwin in your party in order to recruit her, but she and Minsc are a "pair" (just as Xzar & Montaron and Khalid & Jaheira), and if you have one they will seek to be reunited with the other (and may even get angry and turn hostile to you if you keep them separated).
She is indeed in the Gnoll Stronghold, you just can't see her. This problem is caused by the "Fog of War:" Just looking around is not enough. She's in a spot that is not very visible, and so you have to stand right next to her before you can see her. Spoiler version: She's in one of the pits. [ADD:] Curses! Beaten by less than a minute! Ha ha year. She isn't easy to find. Man it took me ages to find her. Well I searched the caves instead of the pits "d'ohhhh".
|
I too had problems finding Dynaheir
SPOLIER . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Dynaheir is in the eastmost pit where the gnoll chieftain and veterans were when you first started the search. I was actually happy to go search the caves first because that was how i found the tome. |
Not only that, but you actually have to head down into the pit a little to see her, that is one of the reasons she is easy to miss.

It's a common difficulty. So common, in fact, that it's in Chapter 13 of the site in my sig.

Ah yes, I remember ........ the first time I tried to find her I searched every inch of that map, I felt such a fool when I found she was right there all the time - just like in the intro movie for the stronghold. Oh and by the way I'm not a big fan of Invoker, they have too many restrictions, but each to his/her own choice.

(Minor spoiler) . . . (very minor, to the tune of F...) . . . 1: If you don't talk to Edwin at all, and come back to him later in the game, he'll have more hitpoints, and he'll have the all-important dot in missile weapons. Mages only get a d4 hitpoint roll, so on each level up, Edwin (and Xzar as well) can only get 1-4 hitpoints. (This isn't counting constitution bonus.) But there is a small bonus to picking him up early: he gets one extra 1st level and one extra 2nd level spell as a bonus ability. (Here comes the major spoiler) . . . . . (Don't say I didn't warn you...) . . . . . 2: Edwin gets his special abilities from that amulet he wears. You know, the amulet from the special group? There's a battle in Chapter 3 that can get your party some decent mid-level gear...but if Edwin's in the party, the people will just greet him and leave. No exp, no gear. :( |
