So I've gotten to the point where I'm going to try the underwater city. Having had a little, uh, "disagreement' with Talrik I had no idea where it was so I took a peek at the walk through. All it tells me is that I should 'equip my' underwater helms and breathers - it doesn't say where to get them. Please tell me that killing Talrik didn't FUBAR the whole deal...?

Where do I get these helms?

No problem with Talrik.
You get the underwater helms and breather at the same shop you bought your ship. At first the guy will only have one or two helms for you. He'll make more and the breathers if you bring him packs of three counch shells.
It's time for crab-hunting.

Underwater helmets and rebreathers:
****************************************
1/Fight some crabs - then gather the leftover shells (if any)
(With much higher probability you can steal the shell during
fight, prior to killing the crab)
2/Go with 3 shells (in inventory of one person) to the shipmaster
in Brimloch city;
he will (automatically) take the shells and give you some experience plus
cash; then he will use the shells as raw material to make diving gear;
the reworked shells will (also automatically) appear
in his "minishop" as a diving helmet (looking indeed like a helmet of sorts)
and rebreahter or "air tank" (looking identical like the "raw" shell).
3/Buy the helmet and the rebreahter
4/Equip helmet (just like a normal helmet) and put the rebreather
into secondary weapon slot (the same where the shield is being kept).
5/Helmet solo (without rebreather) is pretty useless; however when used
together they are great; you can remain underwater as long as you wish...
6/Finding 6 times 3 shells (18 together )
will certainly take plenty of your time
and plenty of diving to the see bottom
(if you have got no scouting skill then it will take
even much longer than "plenty of time")

To save time frequently use "create portal" and "call home" spells
when during your shell hunting.

7/The pirates treasure == two sunken chests on the see bottom
on a top of a small pile of rocks (small hill)
very close (a couple of meters) from the underwater city walls
(Colliseum). The content of the chests is so so - some gold bars,
amulets [frequently the eye of ocean), ankh or two, and such.

8/ When is Colliseum and fighting with the "mother of crabs"
be prepered to loose all you weapons. Namely all weapons
with toughness lower than say 50% will shatter during this
fight. Casting "melt" to soften the armor of the mother of crabs
can speed your fight (making her more vulnerable) but
this will still make no real good to your "soft swords"
(robinsword and nightblade will disapear for sure,
wizard blade will do a little better but not too much better).

Happy gaming

PS. Killing pirates is Ok - it did not spoil
something which you would regret later....

PS.PS.
I appologize for my atrocious english
(me too lazy - to fetch the dictionary and
to check and correct the spelling...)

Thanks Gents! I was a bit scared I would have to start again or at least go back to an ancient save file!

Crabs beware - I'm a coming for you!
