Hi Folks!!

If you ever bumped up a thread and later looked at it and noticed that your particular "bump" "topside" or whatever message is missing, that would be because when I see a message move back to the top, I try to remove these extra "bump" posts. I have not cleared them out of every thread that moves back up, but I do try to remove them from the most popular threads which are several pages long.
I see this as a service to all the readers and hope everyone understands.

Thanks, Wyvern!

Just FYI...we haven't had this problem on W&W yet, but Ziroc wants us to keep a particular thread to under 300 posts so that it won't be corrupted.

Things are better here than on the old forum, where a thread could get corrupted (and often did!) after 50 posts, but this forum has its limitations, too. http://www.tgeweb.com/cgi-bin/ubb/no...iles/smile.gif

I tried bumping a tread and deleting the bump message this morning but the thread went back down... is that normal?

adam warlock 05-27-2001 08:18 PM

yeah sometimes it means someone else is working on it http://www.tgeweb.com/cgi-bin/ubb/no...iles/smile.gif

Cool Wyv! I just bumped like 4 old threads in hopes of helping others tonight. You can undo all of these bumps I did by now I would think. Will they go back to archive as suggested after you remove the bumps? Just wondering http://www.tgeweb.com/cgi-bin/ubb/no...iles/wavey.gif

removing the bumps is a good idea
eliminate the space... http://www.tgeweb.com/cgi-bin/ubb/no...iles/smile.gif

Ryan - if you remove the "Bump" message that pushes the thread to the top - the message will go back to where it was -

Leaving one bump message if fine - I always delete previous bump messages - they are obviously unimportant to the thread itself, but the last one must be in place to push the thread topside.

Hmm, I wonder if it would be possible to have the BEST TIPS, SAZERAC HELP DESK and maybe another high usage thread permenantly set as the first three threads displayed on the first page of the board?

That way, no more bumps required.

Wyvern 05-29-2001 07:20 PM

Don't think that is possible, Ryan, though it would be nice! http://www.tgeweb.com/cgi-bin/ubb/no...miles/wink.gif

I don't mind bumping them.

Wyv
