Hi JPate1, Welcome to the board
It all depends which kind of game you like to play. You can play all races in all roles and it will all work out in the end. Soloist usually start with a mage to get the stone spells. One caution, if you have a thief in your party, his development will limited in the early game. You can achieve all that the thief does by upgrading a fighter to a paladin. The trick is to decide where you want your characters to go. Plan ahead. For exemple, if you want a fighter to become a barbarian, you will try to create a character with 12 in both strenght and fortitude so that you can change early. Remember that you cannot go back to previous roles. One final advice, check out the best tips tread, it gives you tons of tricks on how to create a good party. Have fun. Just a note on the earlier post - I think he meant to say you can achieve all of the thief skill sby upgrading your fighter to a Barbarian.
I'd recommend the following characters for starters. Really though, as many have pointed out, it almost doesn't matter what you pick to start; almost any combo is fun save for a few really difficult ones (such as a Pixie soloist). Even those are an interesting challenge. SOLO - Whiskahs figher - Barbarian - Ranger (you can do this all right at the beginning) - great HP, night vision, and the ranged attack. Plus some beneficial magic. TWO-PERSON - Human fighter - Barbarian - Monk and Oomphaz Wizard - Warlock - good skill coverage, and good ranged magic attacks. Plus, both characters can take a beating up close and carry a lot. THREE-PERSON - Human Fighter - Barbarian - Monk and Drarf Priest - Paladin and Elf Wizard - Warlock - great skill coverage, plus the Elf learns skills as a Wizard faster than normal. The Preist/Paladin will really help when the going gets tough for healing. Enjoy! ------------------ (This space intentionally left blank) |
Hey - the bold code worked! What about italics? Or how about
headings
?
Cool! What else works? ------------------ (This space intentionally left blank) |
