Hi all,

As I'm new to this board, Ithought I would give some brief background info. I'm working my way through my first game of BG1 (currently slogging it out in the Candlekeep catacombs). I have got ToSC but haven't loaded it on yet. My party consists of me (unspecialised mage), Kivan, Minsc, Jaheira, Imoen and Dynaheir. I contrived to get rid of Khalid in the gnoll stronghold so I could keep minsc and get dynaheir. One quick question - is it possible to install BG twice, one without ToSC and one with, on the same HD. I'm using the mac version if that makes any difference. Thanks

Congratulations on your first post

And to your question: I don't know about the MAC version, but I doubt that you are able to do that with a PC version.

My question is WHY?

You can easily install TotSC after you have started a game in normal BG1. You do not have to make a new party and start all over. The new areas of TotSC will be visible to you (when times come), and you are able to visit these areas.

Remember to install the newest TotSC patch too.

Its just that I was planning to also load the darkside of the sword coast on top of it, and I wanted an unblemished version as a backup, but ist not really that important. With regard to the patches - I don't think there are any for the mac version - can anyone correct me on this?

Be aware! With DSotSC it is a totally different matter!

After you have installed this (unofficial) addon, you have to restart from scratch with a new game and a new party.

Right....I'll bear that in mind. Thanks!

Welcome to the boards there Rothrorn...I hope that you find what you need here...I do not believe that it would be possible to double install a program on your PC unless maybe you renamed it in your computer...I don't know though just an idea really...anyway welcome aboard and I will be seeing you around...

By the way Rothrorn is an interesting name is there a story behind it?

I do. I don't know if it's just me, but when I install BG, play it for a while, then try to install TOTSC on top of that, I get all kinds of assertion errors and problems between the two. Things like character inventories and world maps are all slightly different, so every time I need one of those screens, I get a problem.

Thanks Mr Baggins,

My name comes from the game Lords of Midnight, an old turn based strategy game made for the Spectrum (yes I am that old!). LOM was very inovative in its day and still has its fans.

was based on laser squad (i think) which was better , even though it was a futuristic game, and forget spectrum, on the amstrad cpc 6128 it was far superior ;)

I've never heard of laser squad, was available for the speccy? Apologies if this is getting off topic.
