You use them to enchant items at the Wizard's Guild or bless them at the Temple with special effects.

To enchant items, you must first gain the Occultist Trait, then train your characters in "Enchant" skill.

To bless items, you must first gain the Cabalist Trait, then train your characters in "Bless" skill.

The more points you have in each skill, the more enchants/blessings you can add to the items.

Artifact of Vine => Bless weapons and armor at temple; adds the "Toughen" attribute which keeps them from breaking easily (less need for repair).

Artifact of Stone => Bless armor and other wearable items (other than amulets) with AC increases.

Artifact of Stone => Enchant armor and other wearable items at Wizard's guild with "Magic" resistance, enchant weapons at wizard's guild with "Zap" spell.

Artifact of Fire => Enchant armor and other wearable items at Wizard's guild with "Fire" resistance, enchant weapons at wizard's guild with "Flamestrike" spell.

Artifact of Ice => Enchant armor and other wearable items at Wizard's guild with "Ice" resistance, enchant weapons at wizard's guild with "Iceball" spell.

Artifact of Fiend => Bless weapons at Temple guild with added damage (one of the best!)

Artifact of Spirit => Bless weapons with +Hit bonuses at Temple guild, bless armor and wearables with "Regeneration" bonuses (great for combatting cursed items).

I think that's all, but I may have missed a few.
