have been trying to follow this disappearring little bugger of a leprechaun around to find his treasure or some item to prove he is real for the thief quest. Do i need to mug this little guy to get something or is his hidey-e-hole just hidden better than i can find?

BTW balken admits with shame he killed his first "good" npc this morning. Answered the sphinx wrong and had a really annoyed stoning critter after me. After killing him and unstoning a couple of characters i realized that everyone received about 160,000 exp. and i was still able to get into the shrine. Fastest leveling i has gotten so far.

You do not need to follow him or "get him" to get proof and satisfy the quest.
What you do need to do is explore the Temple of Isis/Anephas' Tomb (Sphynx out front) and locate Kerah. From Kerah's area - swim out and up - find a chest and you will have your proof!

(on the killing good NPC thing - still bugs me no end that the designers made it SO rewarding for players to kill the good npcs (they have the highest EX) without there being any consequences.
