First- how come Jaheira advances is both classes but when I duel classes Imoen she stops adbancis in the first class?
Second- I droped Edwin in one of the citys and know when ever I see him he comes up to me and says something over and over again is there a way to stop this without killing him? |
oops one more question how come its way less people that are able to identify magical cross bow bolts
|
1. jaheira is an elf and so she is multi-class. Imoen is human so she can only dual-class. multi-classes advance in both classes and have their Exp split between the 2 (or 3). Humans can only dual-class which means they start off in 1 class, then *change* to a new class. the old class is inactive until the new one gets to a level of 1 level higher than the 1st class. then the 1st class re-activates, but only the new class can ever advance again.
This means with Imoen, say you dualed at level 3 to a mage. her thief class disappears for a while until you get to mage level 4. at this point she gets back her skills from the thief class, but all new exp goes onto her mage from then on. 2. dunno 3. people can identify items based on their Lore skill (see the character sheet in-game-the head icon (4th icon on side of screen?)). Bards have the highest lore, then mages and thieves, everyone else is pretty low. The higher the characters lore skill, the better the equipment they can identify without using a scroll or spell. crossbow bolts are harder to identify than say, arrows of the same enchantment. ps. lore is also effected by wisdom and intelligence. check your manual for tables in the back |
For general questions, follow the link in my sig and start reading--if there's anything you need to know about Baldur's Gate, chances are that it's in there.
The Edwin question is probably a bug. Is he really anxious that you go kill the witch Dynaheir? If you recruit him back into your party and then drop him again, does he shut up? |
nope he dosent want to join my group he just keeps saying the same thing over and over again and I have done the quest with him
|
I had the same thing happen with Yeslick. I brought him into my party, then I left the mines to buy/sell some goodies. In the meantime, he left the party because I left the mines without completing them. But then he kept joining/leaving the party every five seconds or so till I left the area we were in when he left the "first" time...

I had Edwin in one of my parties too. I had 20 in reputation, so whenever I dropped him he just walked away, never to be seen again. I was told on this board, that he would stay and wait to rejoin if my reputation was lower when I dismissed him. An now to the guessing: What if you dropped him when you had a low reputation and after that got a very high reputation? It sounds logic to me that he originally would stay to wait for a rejoining, but now he will not, because your rep is too high. Try to kill a commoner in the city to lower your rep. and see if he would join again. I will recommend that you save the game before trying Insane |
