Does anyone else play in this res? The play area looks fantastic, but the interface gfx look horrible! Is there any way to fix the interface gfx in 1024x768?

I tried with my Riva TNT2 Ultra (Asus V3800 Ultra) and I immediately returned to the software mode. Not only the interface was horrible but also yellow color was replaced with green one almost completely. I got a super black screen in the dungeons no matter how I set gamma. And that nice font used for descriptions! What ***** decided for the ****ed D3D? Why not OpenGL which works? I saw the damned D3D for the first time and I created a reflex in myself: game supports D3D = game does not support 3D acceleration, use software emulation.

Actually the green color seems to be a 'bug' in the nVidia cards: they seem to report the 16 bit color setting wrong (6-5-5 in stead of 5-6-5 or something). Nonetheless W&W should correct for that, because of the popularity of the cards.

The darkness of the dungeons should be solvable with the patch installed: look in the readme of the patch for the -light command line option. You might also try a search here at the forum.

I'm also using a TNT2 card. I am however able to play in D3D 640x480. I tried to play at a higher rez and I got distortion in town. The dungeon area is a bit greenish when you don't use a torch/torchlight/illuminate... I find it kinda cool as it adds to the spooky effect. As for the darkness in the dungeon, the patch's gamma correction (light function) corrected it.

Correct, but we cannot afford the patch for a long time because we need some "features" of the game to fix some stupidities in it (gain 1 HP each time you level up, etc.).
As far as 655 is concerned, it should not cause any problems with a good API. 655 is used by more cards, it is a different norm. Some video cards can switch between 565 and 655. It is not a bug in nVidia. Video cards are able to tell you whether and when they are 565 or 655. That's why OpenGL works nicely with both norms. An example: Might & Magic is OpenGL. No problems and I've never heard about any problems with video. Half-life: the same. Wizards & Warriors: problems, crashes, aliasing in fonts, and so on, and so on ... ueee. Nevertheless, thanks, Carg, for the info. It explains what is happening with my video.

Radek, what I meant to say was that I heard that when you ask an nVidia video card whether it's 655 or 565, it reports the wrong one.

Been playing W&W at 1024 x 768 with my Voodoo 3 AGP with all options at max. and looks great. VERY cool coloured lighting in dungeons, & distant-light effects. Crisp & clean, and amazing detail. Only problem I've found is, that occasionally, in some areas such as Shurugeon Castle outer grounds, when I fire off a spell, or something fires one at me, it's all big huge blue squares, instead of the spell graphics. Only had that happen in that area so far.

Yep 1024x768 is awsome you do lose some clerity though cause game is so dark even with light setting all the way set to 16 and gamma all the way up and my g-fore2 cards gamma set at 2.10 game still is dark at night. question though when i get the better light spells later on do they help on lighting.

Here is My setup and game works NP so far only have gotten as far as getting bauble stick in Crypt as of yet.

Hawkwind and Thyrane,

Was wondering if you had the horrible interface GFX or not? 1024x768 looks fantastiv, but the interface is realy pixellated and hard to read. Do you guys have a clean interface at that res?

BUMP

Sorry...I am still interested in finding out if the interface problems are with Voodoo cards only or not. I read one post from awhile back that said some peopel were getting clean GFX with GeForce 2. (KNEW I should have bought one instead of a Voodoo 5...)

Can anyone else offer input on this subject?
