I know that this will be considered by some to be a stupid question... http://www.tgeweb.com/ironworks/cgi-...iles/smile.gif BUT, is there anyway to play W&W in a window? I know that the ALT tab function is not available, so I would like to play it windowed... Silly I know, but there it is! http://www.tgeweb.com/ironworks/cgi-...iles/smile.gif I was not sure if there was an .ini file, or someway I can edit the registry to do this.... I have looked but am unable to find anything. Thanks for any help! http://www.tgeweb.com/ironworks/cgi-...iles/smile.gif

from what i understand, all efforts to get the window's features to work with this game result in bugs and crashes. perhaps we save up a few more questions in a row when we can't "side-bar" as easily. or perhaps the programers were anti-windows, as strange as that may be.

LOL. I suppose that could be true! Activision games are notorious for not allowing ALT tab, I have beta tested for them and always tried to get it implemented! Thanks once again for your reply. I am sorry to hear there is no way to play it windowed http://www.tgeweb.com/ironworks/cgi-...iles/frown.gif I will have to get over my multi-tasking obsession! http://www.tgeweb.com/ironworks/cgi-...es/biggrin.gif

Wanna use a trainer, huh?
|
Ummm... no? I am not sure what you mean... I don't use trainers... Did not even know there was one for W&W... but I do do a lot of other things while I play sometimes...
|
BLKCat is right, Matri. Not everyone wants to ALT-TAB to use a "trainer". I myself would not mind being able to get out to another application, especially like the Internet, when going through a game...or allowing ALT-TAB to pause the game if I'm interrupted (phone call, wife needs me for something).
Or for when Sabastio is speaking, and I could use the time to write a report...LOL -Sazerac |
Yep...exactly! I make my 'living' so to speak, using the Internet. http://www.tgeweb.com/ironworks/cgi-...iles/smile.gif My relaxation is my game playing in between. I have about worn out the ALT-TAB function on my keyboard I think! *laughing*
|
I do, too, BLKCat, especially when I'm designing a web site...I may have one window open to my HTML editor, one to the Internet so I can "cut and paste" with one hand and ALT-TAB flip with the other. Then, if I'm waiting for something to download, I may open up a game in the background. All my other games have had this function.
So it's Activision's "bad", huh? Doesn't say much for their games... -Sazerac |
Well I wouldn't say it was Activision's 'bad' necessarily Sazerac. In fact, in Star Trek Voyager Elite Force the ALT TAB function works (to their credit!), BUT.... I cannot think of another one of the Activision games where this is true, and I have played dozens... (as well as beta testing many of the same).

Just a small note. Its not Activision's games, the company mostly publishes games. So any problem or limitation comes from the group that creates the application (in our case the game), such as ID Software, Raven, Heuristic Park and so on. If the designer-team decides that the only way to keep the stability factor of the program high is to disallow the use of ALT-Tab, they 'll disable it. I have played many games over the years, and I found out (the hard way) that ALT-TABing does not makes hardware intensive games happy. Lands Of Lore II, III (Westwood studios) crashes most of the time when you try to ALT-Tab them. Other games that play with texture memory loose control and you return to a black-boxes (3D mostly) screen. And so on. So let us be somewhat more forgiving when it comes to demanding games. At least for a chaotic neutral like myself this is the only way to deal with game companies. Otherwise I would wander around with a BFG9000 taking them out one by one http://www.tgeweb.com/ironworks/cgi-...iles/smile.gif I accept the fact that we pay, and we pay a lot, for these games, but the complexity of computer games (over the complexity of windows) create complex problems.
Mortal (Aris) P.S. Sorry for my awfull use of English grammar. P.S. II: It wasn't such a small note after all. http://www.tgeweb.com/ironworks/cgi-...iles/smile.gif [This message has been edited by Mortal (edited 04-01-2001).] |
